The Moon-thly: Full Moon in Gemini

The Moon-thly: Full Moon in Gemini

Hi friends! The calendar year is nearing the end, and my soft animal body is ready to rest. Honestly, the moment it starts getting dark at 5 pm I’m entering full hibernation mode, and so I’m moving into this next moon cycle with intentional slowness. You can still catch me at the Poolville Winter Market (it’s such a lovely little market!), but you won’t catch me stressing about making the holidays “picture perfect”— I’m accepting imperfections and giving myself some grace, and I invite you to do the same! 🖤

What I’m reading

I’m finishing up this week’s #spellbooksaturday post (a round-up of my 2025 reading!), so you’ll have to be patient with me, but I’ve also read and appreciated…

“We are never forgiving Trump voters” by Jenn M. Jackson, PhD
“No matter how regretful y’all are, the answer remains: ‘F*ck you.'” This perfectly encapsulates my feelings.

“Male Dominance is in Ruins” by Kate Manne
“How much easier to say that you think women are not that smart, or that we’re rather bad people, than to admit that male dominance suited you and that you’ll really miss it.”

What I’m watching

We’re blanketed under more than a foot of snow, but that hasn’t stopped me from daydreaming about our gardens and our plans for the future…

What I’m listening to

You know what I’m not listening to? Spotify. They’ve been mired in controversy for years, making millions off underpaid artists, and allowing the fascist thugs at ICE to run recruitment ads was the final straw for me. I cancelled my account, and I encourage others to do the same!

What I’m eating

This frigid weather calls for soups, stews, and chili, and I recently made a variation of this white chicken chili that we devoured. The crockpot may be the easiest method, but I preferred doing it on the stovetop, with a couple alterations— first, homemade chicken stock makes a huge difference, adding complexity that store-bought can’t replicate, and second, charring your own corn for greater depth of flavor.
