Every year now I share this post, and every year I believe it for a different reason. Love is a spell, ever-changing, a wild sort of magic. Love has an unfathomable number of interpretations, but I especially appreciate that of bell hooks: “Love is an action, never simply a feeling.”
To that end, I’d like to offer a love spell, of sorts, to the people of Palestine. Currently Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders reports that “nowhere in Gaza is safe as Israel announces military operation in Rafah,” with the military escalation threatening “…nearly 1.5 million Palestinians who are currently living in that region.” (source)
I am without words when I think about the devastation of Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza. I feel too much to put into words. It is something that requires action.
Give if able, keep speaking out, keep bearing witness.
Let us offer a love spell, together, for Palestine.
