Hello friends! Summer is in full swing here on Hedge Witch Farms, and we’re balancing lots of hard work with time spent visiting with friends and family. Meanwhile, I’ve enjoyed…

What I’m reading

I have a few recent #spellbooksaturday reviews, and I have also enjoyed…

“No One Told Men the Floor Was Made of Women” by Soraya Chemaly
“The goal is not to replace male centrality with female centrality, a patriarchal frame, but to dissolve the systems that require anyone’s subordination as the cost of someone else’s identity, safety, and well-being.”

“The ‘Middle’ Men of the New York Times” by Jessica Valenti
“The ‘nuanced’ take on abortion rights doesn’t lie halfway between pro-choice and Republican laws. There is not a certain number of weeks into pregnancy when women simply cease to be people.”

What I’m watching

I was late to the party on this one, but oh my gosh, I loved Widow’s Bay. It’s rare that horror and comedy are melded so perfectly, but creator Katie Dippold has done just that. I can’t stop recommending it to everyone.

What I’m eating

If you’re located in Central New York, I highly recommend a dinner at Brine & Stave raw bar in Hamilton. Every dish we’ve had has been incredible, and owners Josh and Alicia are delightful.

What I’m doing

The spring weather has gradually transitioned into summer, and markets are starting to get quite busy!

I have spent a lot of time working in our garden this month, and in addition to occasionally seeing one of our honeybees venture over, we have had quite a few visitors in the kitchen gardens! I am always happy to see the toads and newts, as they eat some of the more frustrating pests, though I have to admit that I have been startled more than once by someone hopping into the area where I am working.
