When broomsticks aren’t an option: HWB + TSA Approved Travel

Anyone who knows me IRL knows that I am a total homebody— blame it on my sun, rising, Venus, and Mercury in Cancer— and so packing for a recent flight that only allowed for a carry-on was… an ordeal. “I know it’s gonna be in the mid-90’s when we get there, but what if I need my emotional support cardigan?” I agonized. “And what about my skincare routine?!”

It’s been some time since I flew, and I was in need of a reminder about the TSA’s (many) rules, most importantly their liquids rule. From the TSA website:

You are allowed to bring a quart-sized bag of liquids, aerosols, gels, creams and pastes in your carry-on bag and through the checkpoint. These are limited to travel-sized containers that are 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less per item.

Importantly, the TSA also allows folks to travel with bar soap in both checked and carry-on bags (source) and so I was in luck! My everyday items were safe for travel. All HWB tinned salves and balms are 3 ounces…

…while the bar soap I use daily was easily packed in my carry-on!
